MRI

This is very useful in detecting the presence of vertebral bony metastases. Can be useful to determine if spinal cord compression is present as well.

You put in a requisition for an urgent MRI of the spine. The booking clerk comes back and says that there is a two month wait for the MRI.

Yikes! You can't wait a week, let alone 2 months. As an advocate for your patient, you get on the phone right away with the radiologistoncall at the closest hospital which performs MRI's. After telling the radiologist your concerns about Emil, the radiologist really wishes he could get Emil an MRI in the next day or so, but the reality is that the machine is booked up for at least the next 10 days as there's a long weekend coming up.

What else can you try so that you can try to get some relief for Emil in the next couple of days
