>> Exit EMR

Coffee breakIf you are working as a group, NOW is a good time to pause for DISCUSSION with the facilitator.

What are the key points that you gleaned from the patient's EMR?

Answer has been sent.

Continue as directed by the Facilitator.

You want to go and see him but he is on the can.

The nurse tells you, "I got a brief history from him before he ducked into the toilet. Apparently, he was taking clonidine 0.2mg bid for smoking cessation over the past two weeks but stopped it two days ago because he did not like the constipation. This morning when he woke up, he said his head was feeling full so he took his BP at home, and it spooked him to come in here."

When you ask for his current vital signs, she tells you, "Yup, his BP is pretty high. I double checked it myself on both arms. P80, BP 180/120. RR 16. T37.1. SaO2 94%. He doesn't have any other symptoms just now - no chest or abdo pain. Head 'not feeling great' is how he puts it. He seems pretty anxious about all this."

Things are pretty busy here today so you make some choices about quick initial investigations that can be done while you tend to another patient.
