Oropharyngeal airwayAn oropharyngeal airway (airway tube) is simple medical device used to maintain or open a patients airway. Is used commonly in pre-hospital emergency medicine and for short term airway management in sedated or unconscious patients to maintain an opened airways.
Relative contraindications can be when insertion of an oropharyngeal airway may not be feasible in some settings, such as Oral trauma or Trismus (restriction of mouth opening including spasm of muscles of mastication). |
