Case Introducation

Description of the patient: 

Five-year-old girl, with a complaint of pain in the lower, left quadrant while eating.

The child states, “My tooth hurts when I eat candy” Mother states, “Has only been a problem for one week”

The patient is the second of three children and lives with both parents. They are well educated; mother is working in an insurance company and father is a lawyer. They are working full-time (mother said: it wasn't easy for me to take time off for bringing her to the dental office today). She attends primary school; and likes swimming. (When they come to the office mother said: she is a bit shy). she brushes with fluoridated toothpaste roughly three times a week. Lives in an optimally fluoridated area. They also use filter water at home.
