You’re a graduate student working in a research lab exploring how certain organelles and structures behave during cell division. Your supervisor has asked you to get comfortable identifying cells at various stages of mitosis, and so that’s what you intend to do! At the end of your first week, you’ve planned an examination of a sample of cells. The lab technicians have prepared your samples for you, but you notice that they forgot to label them. The lab technicians have left for the weekend, and there’s no way to contact them. However, you’re confident you can identify the cells and their stages of mitosis without their proper labels. You’ll be spending time using a fluorescent microscope (how it works isn't important right now), and in order to help you with this short project, the laboratory technicians have agreed to prepare, stain, and label your cells. All you have to do is work on identifying the stages of mitosis. Be sure to thank them by offering to buy a round of drinks at the next social event. |
